STEAMER PURCHASED. FOR AUSTRALIAN TRADE.

The White Star Company -has purchased the steamer Irishman, and is refitting her for the Australian passenger trade. [The Irishman is a steel twin-screw four-masted steamer of 9510 tons. She I was built in 1899 by Harland and Wolff, Ltd., at Belfast, for the British and North Atlantic Steam Navigation Company, Ltd. Her length is 500.7 ft, breadth 62.4 ft, and. depth 34ft. The Irishman is fitted with elecctric light and refrigerating machinery, and has three decks and a shade deck:]
