The amount of the subscriptions announced at last night's meeting of tho Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was much above the ordinary — namely, £21 2s 6d. Credit for this is mainly due to the efforts of Mise Haydn, schoolteacher, of the Hutt, who, with the assistance of her pupils, held a bazaar in aid of the society's funds. Miss Haydn was able to forward £13 18s to the society, and it Was decided to send her & letter of thanks.
