GISBORNE'S INVITATION TO THE GOVERNOR.
GISBORNE, 9th January. A deputation waited upon the Borough Council last evening ' to ask the council to extend an invitation to tho Governor (Lord Islington) to lay the foundation etone of the new Holy Trinity Church at present building, and the council decided to communicate with Sir James Carrol' and ask him to extend the invitation to the Governor to visit the district.
