AS INTERESTING POSITION. The weather is kind to the bowlers toi day. A cool wind is blowing from the south, but the greens «re in excellent order, and quite I'as.t enough to te6t the capabilities of the playeris. ALso, some idea of the "beginning of the end" ma.y be gathered from the results of the seventh round. In Section A Gordon (St. John's) has an unmistakable lead with an unbroken record of seven wins, and there are indications that he will lead the section at the finish. In Section B Bell (Wellington), who was leading up to that point, suffered defeat at the hands of Baildon (Grey I Lynn), ,but his chances for the iinish. ait still fairly good. Ballinger etill leads Section 6, with one loss, but Kerr, of Thorndon, is close in pursuit, and ''on paper" has a good chance. There are distinct possibilities of a tie in Section U, in which four skips are on an equal footing with five wins and two losses. Most qf those who have m tar tied meet one another in the round now being played, and the issua is naturally doubtful. The same remark applies to Section E, and infection J? it looks as if Saywell (Feilding) and Walker (Ponsonby) ought to light out the finish Both haVe six wins and a loss, and they are now engaged against one another in the eighth round on the Thorndon Green. There is a lot of close pegging in tKis section, and the issue is noWjuiEe apparent. Section (i is another problem. Sievwright (Wellington).. Macdougall (Christ- [ church), and , Norwood (Victoria) tie with a loss each. The issue of the 'iound no x w being played will afford a clearer indication of what is going to happen. } 'Three- old skips — Wylie- (Newtown), Lock (Te Hiwi), and Hueston. Craig, of Gisborne, looks a winner in Section J, but a loss to him and a win to Webb will result in a tie. BrackeuI ridge (Ne\ytown) and Land (Hastings) are tyi/ig in Section X..
