Th© jam industry in Tasmania is threatened, owing to the inability of the manufacturers to obtain sufficient supplies of sugar. Through tho refusal of the Sydney wharf labourers to work overtime, several vessels had sailed, leaving quantities of sugar on tho wharf. The proprietors of the biggest factory here have threatened to close the works.
