NORTHERN TOURNAMENT.

FIRST DAY'S PLAY. The weather continued perfect for the first day of the Northern Bowling Association's tournament yesterday, and the games were all played well up to time. The greens grow keener an the day became hotter, and it is likely 4hat this in some degree accounted for the very great difference between some 'of the scores. The unusual score of 8 in one head was put up by Dall (Wellington) in his match against Hollings (Masterton)., Dall's bowlo were lying all behind the jack, and, with a beautiful draw, ho trailed the jack and lay the possible. There was some interesting play at the finish of the ' match between King (Thorndon) and Topp (Hataitai) in the second found. They tied with 19 all on the last head, after some very close play, but in the play off the Thorndon men played up well and scored a well-deserved 4. Following are the results of the second and third rounds : — SECOND ROUND. """ SECTION A. On Wellington Green. Eddie 22, Hollings 16. Gordon 22, Carmen 20. M'Kenna 20, Masson 18. King 23, Topp 19.
