JOHN M'CORMACK'S CONCERT.
It is interesting to observe that Mr. John M'Cormack, who will sing At the Town Hall, Wellington, ¦ on Friday, 12th January, was the principal tenor of the Covent Garden Opera Company at the Great Coronation Gala performance some little while back in London. People in New Zealand, in general, hardly know how famous a singer Mr. M'Cormack is. Music lovers, and those who read current literature on the subject, naturally do. While Mr. M'Cormack sings Irish ballads as no one else in the world can sing them, it ie in Grand Opera that he is really great. Both phases of Mr. M'Cormack'6 art are to be presented to the Wellington audience which will hear him in selections from the very Bamc operas wJiich compelled such admiration in. Sydney and Melbourne, when he sang with the Melba Grand Opera Company, of which he was the principal tenor. Mr. M'Cormack is to be assisted by Mr. Alfred Kaufmann (principal basso of the Melba Grand Opera Company), and Miss Rosina Buckmann also of the same company. The programme will include the famous trio from Gounod's "Faust." The plan is rapidly filling, and early application for reserved seats is necessary to avoid dissappointment. The management draw special attention to the prices fixed for this concert.
