Australia won by 146 runs. The weather was fine and hot. • When stumps -were drawn last evening 'England had eight wickets down for 263 in the second innings, and wanted 175 to win the match. There were only about 100 people present when Douglas, the not-out man, and Barnes resumed the innings. They faced the bowling of Hordern and Cotter respectively. Barnes quickly brought up double figures for himself, driving Cotter to the boundary. Douglas, however, faced the bowling for six overs without scoring before being bowled with a big legbreak by Hordern. Strudwick scored a lucky 4 off Cotter by snicking him. through the slips, and followed it up a few balls later by splendidly cutting him to the track. When the total was 291 Hordern bowled Barnes.
