TROUBLE IN THE RANKS IN AUCKLAND.

[BY TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] AUCKLAND, This Day. The writer of the Star's Labour notes says : — "There is trouble in the ranks of the Labour Party over the action of oil© or two officials of the Auckland branch in issuing a manifesto on behalf of 'the i Opjggj&e cwid.jd&teJor.jthe 2wu& esti

in the^recent election, and also in waiting "up6n Mr. W. F. Mafisoy, the Leader of the Opposition, on Saturday last to offer the congratulations on behalf of the party on the success of his party. Tho New Zealand Labour Party has never looked to the present Opposition Party for any amelioration in the working conditions by progressive legislation, or otherwise, and the affection suddenly displayed by Mr. Maeeey for the workers' vote in the North has not extended to seats where the second ballot has been fought out between an Opposition man amf a representative of Labour. The great guns of the so-called Reform Party were brought to bear against Messrs. M'Laren, Hogg, Fletcher, Moore, and Hindmarsh, and only the latter succeeded in getting elected. The Wellington branch of the Labour Party have had no reason to congratulate Mr. Massey on. his succeee, and it is not surpribing that the Dominion executive has issued a strongly-worded reproof to the two Auckland' officers for engaging in such an internecine warfare on behalf of what the executive dubs the Reactionary Party of the Dominion. The matter is not done with yet, and steps are already being taken to counteract the vicious effects of the ill-advised action of the persons referred to."
