NEW GROUND WANTED. FOR ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

The co-operative system as applied, to the purchase of a football ground was the point discussed at a meeting of soccer players and supporters last evening. Mr. H. N. Holmes occupied the chair. The proposal is to institute an active campaign to secure " 3000 shareholders within a fortnight to form a company to purchase a ground at Kilbirnie South at £200 an acre. The number of shareholders required is 5000. The chairman explained that there was no intention of asking the public to support, the scheme. The Mayor of Miramar (Mr. J. Brodie) remarked that some years ago his council purchased a piece of land nea-r the proposed football ground for between £500 and £600. The land would be perfectly dry in winter. It was announced before the close of the meeting that 1200 shares had been taken up. It is expected Ibat the proposaJ will be carried into effect after the holding of another meeting this month.
