LEONARD BORWICK.
Mr. Leonard Borwick, the famous English pianist, is to give two recitals in Wellington this week, under the direction of Messrs. J. and N. Tait. An Ettglishman by;' birth, Mr. Borwick received his. training at Frankfurt-on-Main at the hands of Madame Schumann, widow of the famous composer. The artist ha* won high praise iiv London, where his recent recitals were a great success. In all his recitals in the Australian centres he was received by houses packed in all pa.rts, and his success in the Commonwealth cities augurs ■well for the short season here. The MelbourneAArgus3 s thue speaks of him: " Many of the world's greatest pianists have, been' heard in the Town Hall— Halle, Paderewski, Hambourg, Mme. Carrcno. Katherlne Goodsorf— and to that list of distinguished names another must now be added .Worthy to rank witli tbe best of them. Mr. Leonard Borwick gaVfe his first recital there last night and made good all the claims that have been advanced for him." The Wellington dates are Thursday and Saturday next.
