NAVY LEAGUE. FIRST CONFERENCE OPENED.
Under the presidency of the Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilfdrd, M.P.), the first conference of branch representatives of the Navy League was commenced at the Town Hall to-day. The conference was called by the Canterbury League. The delegates were as under: Messrs. T. Jl. Wfltad and K. Darroch (Weilington), Mr. W. J. Napier (Auckland), the Rev. E. E. Chambers , and Captain Treleaven (Canterbury), Mr. M. G. C. Pftscoe (Aahburton), Messrs. J. C. Cmigie, M.P. and 0. N. 0. Arber (Timatu). Mr. C. W. Palmer (Southland), Me.-u'g. ,1 Allen, M.P., G. M. ThoiWi. if. P., T. K. Sidey, M.P., and \V. Fraser. M.P. (Otago), and Mr. Korton FranH« (Wmmate). An apoiouy for absence was received from Mr. E. DanieJJ. .%' Jo-wph Ward telegraphed regret* ting hio inability lo open the conference owing to picture ot bufiness, and wished the delegated every success.
