At 9 a.m. the following forecast trts issued for the subsequent 24 hours :— Winds.— Northerly, strong to gale Veering by westerly to southerly after about 24 hours, in most parts of the country: a heavy westerly gale probable in Cook Strait to-night. Barometer.— Pall everywhere, but probably rising fast in the southern districts after about 24 hours.
