FORECAST.
At 9 a.m. the following forecast trts issued for the subsequent 24 hours :— Winds.— Northerly, strong to gale Veering by westerly to southerly after about 24 hours, in most parts of the country: a heavy westerly gale probable in Cook Strait to-night. Barometer.— Pall everywhere, but probably rising fast in the southern districts after about 24 hours. Sea..— Heavy northward of East Cape and between Castlepoitit and Kaikoura ; considerable and increasing to a Very heavy sea on, all the western coast; increasing elsewhere. Tides,— High noithward of East Cape and southward of Cape IJgnwnt; good and increasing elsewhere after 24 hours. Warning signals for northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemcn and Tiritiri, aad for westerly gales at East Cape, Capes Campbell, JSarewell Siiit, and Foulwind. and at Stephen Isiand, Nugget Point, and Centre Isla-tid.
