ASSOCIATION. SATURDAY'S GAMES. CORINTHIANS' POOR DISPLAY.

Swifts (7) v. Corinthians (0). Rovers (3) v. Diamonds (2). V.M.C.A. (2) v. Ramblers (1). SWIFTS (7) v. CORINTHIANS (0). The "starred" match of the afternoon, Swifts v. Corinthians, was played on Duppa-street Reserve, and was a disappointment in. more than one respect. Corinthians, who were hopelessly outclassed, lost the services of Ives towards the end of the second half, he being ordered off the field for allegedly striking an opponent. Swifts kicked off, and at once made for the opposing goal, Vessel being the man to take the hall down. Rutter transferred play to the other end, where Pye-Smith conceded a corner. Rickerby cleared, however, with a fine kick. Give and take play followed from a breakaway, in which, Scott, Vessey, and Rob* efts Were prominent. It ended in Scott netting Swifts' _ initial goal. From the kick-off Corinthians thrashed their opponents, the goalkeeper being called upon to save on several occasions. Swifts got away again, and Roberts scored number two. Scott and Guise followed shortly afterwards with a goal each, which brought the score at the interval to fonr to nil.* t The second half opened ttp somewhat lively, each goal being visited in quick succession, but by this time Swifts had settled down, and kept the game well in hand for the rest of the afternoon. Scott, Guise, and Roberts netted a goal apiece, making Swifts victors by seven goals to nil. ROVERS (3) v, DIAMONDS (2). .„ A particularly closely contested game was witnessed at Duppa-street, where Rovers defeated Diamonds by the narrow maTgin of 3 points to 2. Rovers first established a lead through the agency of Lowe. Diamonds equalised, and then Miller notched another goal for Rovers. Nothing daunted^ Diamonds by dint of persistence added another point to their tally just before half-time, making the •core— Rover* 2, Diamonds 2. Bkck did the trick. Play continued to be fast and ( fairly open after a change of ends. Diamonds commenced well, and had their, opponent* boxed in a tight corner for somo time. Just when a goal Seemed likely, however, the opposing vanguard broke away, and it was not long before, they were again in the lead. Miller was the scorer. Stimulated by this reverse the blacks strived hard to repeat last week's performance and secure a draw, but although they tev«rai limes' went neat to obtaining their end, Rovers eventually left the field winners' by three points to two. V.M.C.A. (2) v.- RAMBLERS. (I).' The match played at Duppa-street between these 1 two teams on Saturday week resulted in a* draw,' despite the fact that att <e3ttra, twenty -minutes was also played.
