Trotting Club's two days' meeting this month. The president of the club, in placing the position before tile committee, stat ed that the- question of whether an a-p plication for a conditional license was granted or not did not affect the amount of liquor consumed. At present a drag ran to and from the hotel and the course between every race, and coma of the mewfianded back at the course half intoxicated. Large quantities ol liquor were brought on to the grounds, and he knew of one instance in which A party of young men had taken liquor into the stand in the presence of ladies, and had got "beastly drunk." When ho (the speaker) had reifionsUaV ed with them they had used insulting language to him. He had them removed from the stand, and they took their liquor to another part of the ground. Such instances were frequent, and were due to the club not having a booth which it could properly control. The Chairman : It is not a matter of Control by the club. The committee haa the control. • In reply to questions, a constable said he had not seen th* iiscideT.t referred to. He had seen kegs of beer about the- racecourse and people drinking.
