The Lithgow strikers have instructed the local storekeepers not to supply nonnniohiste. The orders are being obeyed. Messrs. Hoskine are sending to Sydney for provisions for the non-unioniets, who are unable to buy even a newspaper. WATERSIDE WORKERS' STRIKE. ENDED aFmACKAY. AND BEGUN AT~TOWNSVILLE. BRISBANE, 2Sth August. The waterside workers' strike at Mackay hap been settkd, and work has been resumed. The Adelaide Shipping Company has agreed that tho non' Unionist 'workers' hours shall bo limited to forty-eight weekly, and that free labourers and unionists shall bo kept apart, and that as the free labourers leave their placeß shall be filled b"y unionists. The men employed on the wharves at Townsville have ceased work owing to the shippers persisting in employing a holnbei? of free labourers. Four eteanierjj have been held up. The federation _ of shop employees of the Harrimart railway lines, numbering thousands, threaten to strike unless their grievance* are remedied. Their chief demand is an eight-hour day."
