. » THE POSITION OF AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. MELBOURNE, 12th May. The Acting-Prime Minister, Mr. W. M. Hughes, in referringto a recent statement by Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada, as to the British and Australian attitude on the All Red route, declared that the proposal had never been brought before the Australian 'Government in a definite way. Australia could not deal with, the project until a definite proposal waa made by the British Government. The country would be prepared to play its part in any well-considered and practical proposal.
