SCULLING EVENTS.

THE WELLINGTON CLUB. Several n*eats of the Handicap Sculls have been rowed off. Following are details t — J. Hoaro (20sec) beat E. Cairns (ssec) by fouv lengths. Hoai'e sculled soundly from beginning to end, and well deserved his win. Cairns was rather disappointing, sculling too short. He should get down to his work more, and, more important still, he must keep his arms straight at the catch and also when pulling through. W. Hinchcliff (45sec) beat W. Hoare (30sec) by several lengths. Hinchcliff sculls too short, and if he wishes to make better progress ho niuet get down to his work and lengthen out more. Apart from that he sculled very well. W. Hoare sculled soundly, and if he sticks to it he will have his revenge next season. J. Hannan (Bsec) beat C. Gray (6sec) by two lengths. This rase was a fight from start to' finish. Gray made some grand efforts to overhaul his man, but Hannan was able to stay them off. Gray's sculling was rather faulty, but that was owing to' lack of training. Hannan is sculling well, and is in great form. G. Jones (scr) beat P. O'Donovan (30sec) by eeveral lengths. O'Donovan made good the advantage of his start, but was unable to hold the lead after half a mile. O'Donovan has a real good style, but wants to get in at the catch quicker instead of lingering after coming up. Jones sculled Boundly throughout, and showed good skill. He is in great form at present, and will have to be considered when the final comes. A. N. Mathieson (scr) beat* A. Jackson (20sec) by four lengths. Jackson's sculling was very disappointing. He needs to put more vim into his work, to be quicker at the catch, and lengthen out a great deal more before he will do any good. " Gus " sculled with good . length throughout, and was never troubled after the first quarter of a mile. J. Hoare (20sec) beat W. Hinchcliff (45sec) by several lengths. Hinchcliff had the misfortune to run into a pleasure boat which was trying to 'cross his bows. But apart from that Hoaro looked all over the winner, and the race was awarded to him. " ' JUNIOR SCULLS. The semi-final has been rowed off. J. Hannan beating C. Symonds by two lengths. This was a good race from start to finish, and Hainan only managed to forge ahead when about a quarter of a mile from the finish. Both eculted! well, .but Symonds is rather out ot training. The final now lies between A. Barry and J. Hannan. Great interest is taken m this event, as both men are training hard, and a great race is anticipated, each man feeling quite confident of winning the cup. '
