CHECKED FIGURES FOR WELLINGTON. DIVISION OF SEXES. The census figures of tho population of Wellington and suburbs, published in The Post on Wednesday last, after being checked, show only slight differences. The final figures are as foLow :: — ■

RETURNS FOR AUCKLAND AND SUBURBS. (35S IEI/BGBAPK —'PBBSS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, 2nd May. The population of Greater Auckland is 109,781. In five years it has increased by 21,714, and in ten years by 37,558. The results of the census in the borough, of Birkenhead were ascertained to-day, and an accuiate statement of the population of the city and of its suburbs is now possible. The following table shows in detail the population of the various boroughs and of the other suburban areas comprising Greater Auckland, and also- the results of previous censuses. It will be noticed that the number of Chinese residents has been added to the European population, but no allowance has been made for the Maoris resident in the area. The figures for the City of Auckland include 700 persons who were on shipboard at the port on tlie aight of the last census, 815 who were, similarly situated at the census of 1906, and 921 who were returned under the heading of- "shipping" in 1901 j— ■ 1911. 1906. 1901. PALMERSTON N., 2nd May. The census returns for Kairanga County, which immediately surrounds Paimerston, shows a population of 3877, against 3881 at last census. Palmerston Borough population is: Males 5478, females 5513. NEW PLYMOUTH, 2nd May. The census returns for the Borough of New Plymouth and suburbs give a total of 7731, an, increase of 591 as compared with the census of 1906. BLENHEIM, This Day. The population of the Borough of Blenheim is 3772 —n0t 3372, as previously announced— ••and Blenheim and suburbs 4877.
