The omission of the Battle of Chateauguay, in which the Canadians defeated tho Americans in 1813, from the Empire Festival in London for fear of wounding American susceptibilities, was mentioned in the House of Commons. Membez's complained that the Americana did not usually consider others in their celebrations. The Prime Minister (Sir Wilfrid Laurier) explained that he was powerless in the matter.
