The troops in the city on May Day were not hidden, as formerly was the ca&o, but instead patrolled the streets I in strong detachments, and overawed the 100,000 workmen who were- holidaymaking. A number of minor disturbances took place, and eighty-one arrests were made. Thirteen policemen, twenty-five soldiers, and eighty civilians were injured.
