There was a representative gathering at the manufacturers' luncheon. The speeches, including those of Mr. Trefie, Assistant Minister for Agriculture, and Mr. Caa-miehael, Assistant ; Minister to the Treasury, advocated the encouragement of locally -made goods, the cultivation of friendly relations between: employers and employed, and the settlement of disputes through thfe medium of friendly conferences or by arbitration.
