Mr. H. Baillie, City Librarian, returned from Auckland last, erening. Professor Rankine-Brown, of Victoria College, returned from Sydney yesterday. Mr. T. C. List, proprietor of the Taranaki Daily News, is visiting Wellington. Hon. D. Buddo, Minister for Internal Affairs, leaves for Christchurch this evening. Mr. W. C. jlensington, Under-Secre-tary for Lands, is on a visit to isapier on departmental busmen. Hon. Jas. Carroll, Acting-Premier, is in Auckland, the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Railways, is at Taupo, and the Hon. G. Fowlds at Rotorua. A Christchurch Press Association telegram records the death, at the age of sixty-four, of Mr. Heindrich Kohn, proprietor of Peterson and Co.'s jewellery business. Mr. and Mrs. John Kirkca-Idie, of Wei-, lington arrived in Australia from England by the Mooltan this week, and Hope to be back in New Zealand by next Wednesday's boat from Sydney. Mr. George Craig, chief clerk of the Customs Department, who was granted leave of absence owing to ill-health*, returned from Sydney by the Warrimoo yesterday, feeling all the better for the , rest. Mr. Thomas Ingley, senior, of Greytown, died yesterday at the age of 91 years. He was one of the first residents of Greytown and was greatly respected by all who knew him (writes our Greytown, correspondent). Mr. A. L& Soeuf, director of the Sydney Zoological Gardens, who has ! been invited by the Wellington City Council to report uj>on the Zoo at Newlown Park, arrived in Wellington by the Warrimoo from bydney yesterday. The funeral of the late Mr. Jeremiah Bradley, of the Public Works Department, took place at Karori yesterday. The remains were brought from Clyde, Central Otago. Rev. Father Hickson performed the service at the grave-side, and Rev. Father Bowden, St. Patrick's College, assisted. , Mr. H. D. Bell, K.C., has been elected to represent the Professorial Board on the Victoria College Council vice Mr. E. D. Bell, who did not seek re-elec-tion. On the motion of Mr. Fleming, the council tendered Mr. E. D. Bell a vote of thanks for his services. Mr. Bell responded appropriately. A military funeral was accorded the late Mr. C. N. Morrish, who was drowned at Paraparanmu on Sunday. The body was carried on a gun carriage to Karori Cemetery, the coffin being covered by the Union Jack. The Engineers, under Lieuts. Chappie and Keenan, were pall-healfers, and a detachment from * the Artillery formed the firing party. The late Mr. Morrish was a corporal in the Engineers. Rev. A. M. i Johnson, of St. Mark's, conducted the j service. ' i Mr. C. W. Jones, elected as the representative of payers of 'dues on the Harbour Board, was welcomed by the chairman (Mr. R. Fletcher) at the meeting of the board last night. The chairman also expressed regret at the fact that Mr. Bblton was not again a candidate for a seat on the board. Mt. Bolton explained that he intended to devote his time to an endeavour to secure Parliamentary honours. The chairman further congratulated Mr. R. C. Renner upon his election as a colleague of Mr. Jones. The board placed on record its appreciation of the services of the Hon. T. K. Macdonald, who had been a member since 1904, and was chairman for two years j Mr. T. M. Wilford,' M.P., who became a member of the board in 1900 and was chairman for two years ; and to Mr. R. Fletcher, the present chairman, who is standing for reelection.
