A cyclonic area appears to be enveloping the North Island, and easterly and northerly winds have increased generally, strong to gale in the northern districts. Much ram is reported northward of Cape Egmont and Napier, and' unsettled and cloudy weather has extended as far south as Hokitika and Lyttelton. Elsewhere fine and clear conditions prevail.
