The Warrimoo, from Sydney direct, arrived in the stream at 3 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at the Queen's Wharf about an hour later. She left Sydney at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. Fine weather was experienced until Tuesday, when strong north-easterly winds and head seas set in, continuing until Stephen Island was rounded. The weather then moderated. The Warrimoo, which is to leave for Hobart and Melbourne, via southern ports, this evening, brought the following cargo to Wellington : — 270 cases fruit, 12 cases tobacco, 4 cases silk, 49 cases sewing macliines, 56 bagb hemp seed, 27 cases maible, 80 cases champagne, 50 drums carbide, '04 bags sugar, 595 cases soap, 285 sacks pollard, 945 packages tea, 198 bars lead, 370 bags rice, quantity timber, 150 cases schnapps, quantity merchandise. ARRIVAL OF KIA ORA. The Kia Ora arrived in the stream at 7.10 o'clock this morning from London via Auckland and Napier. Prior to berthing at the King's Wharf to discharge about 400 tons of cargo, the steamed will unload 5000 packages ot explosives in the stream. On Saturday the Kja Ora is expected to leave for Bluff with the balance of her cargo. KNIGHT OF THE GARTER. A bottomless vessel is practically the present state of the Knight of the Garter, which is in Otago Dock for repairs of the extensive damage she sustained while entering the Bluff harbour in foggy weather. MoEt of the damaged plates are already removed, leaving the rows of frames exposed to view on either sides of her keel. Tons of the concrete that is used to line the inside of iron vessels' bottoms lie aboat in heaps in the dock, the floor of which is almost covered "with mechanical appliances, and resembles a machine shop. The Australia is a steel ship of 1442 tons net register, was built in 1894, and is commanded by Captain L. Gazzalo. Captain Hutchings, late of the Waihora, and Captain Cameron, late of the Corinna, arrived from Sydney yesterday by the Warrimoo. Instead of leaving Dunedin to-morrow the Kowhai will not sail on her trip to Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton, and thence to northern ports, until the 25th April. Mr. J. W. Watson, has been appointed mate of the Kahu. Between them the Alexander and Kennedy landed 1200 sheep at the Petono Wharf today on consignment to the Gear Company from French Pass. The Argus is to sail on Saturday for Terakohe. The ketch will not be back again at Wellington for some time. She is to be engaged for a time in the Golden Bay trade. Mr. Watts is shipping 70 horses— half-draught and draught— to Australia to-morrow. The Whakatane is timed to leave to-morrow afternoon for Lyttelton. - A sailer, presumably the American fourmasted barquentine Kohala, bound from Lyttelton to Newcastle, was passed by the Warrimoo at 12.55 p.m. on Monday. The Wairau'is to leave Karamea to-day for Wellington. On, Friday she will leave Wellington to return again from Blenheim with a load of produce. - The Norwegian barque Mataura, 1193 tons register, is to load phosphates at Seychelles Island for New Zealand. . Private adv'ces have been received in Sydney to' the eflect that the new F.H.S. liner Argyllshire is to be handed over to her owners by the builders about the middle of next month, and in, June will leave Liverpool for Australia and for New Zealand. Captain. Chicken, late of the Ayrshire, will have charge of the new steamer, and Mr. Henderson will be the chief steward. The schooner Falcon, ■which is bound for Havelock, cleared the Wellington Heads yesterday afternoon. , The Storm is due at Wellington to-morrow to load explosives ex Kia Ora for Dunedin. Mr. D. W. Cameron, chief officer of the Kaitangata, was a passenger yesterday by the Warrimoo from Sydney, where he has been for the purpose of securing pilotage exemptions. On the 7th April the barque Rona left Melbourne for Edithburg (South Australia) to load salt for Timaru and Lyttelton. The Kent arrived from Picton at 5.35 a m. to-day and berthed at the Glasgow Wharf fof Homeward loading. She will be bunkered to-day by the Komata with 1000 tons of ooal.
