WELLINGTON EXHIBITION.

MEETING OP THE COMMITTEE. A fully-attended meeting of the Building, Lighting, Power, and Space Committee of the Wellington Provincial Industrial Association wae held last <fiight, Mr. T. Ballinger presiding. Applications for space were received from the City Electric Lighting Department and the Wellington Gas Company. Permission was granted the Gas Company to give demonstrations in cooking. An application from the secretary of the Wonderland Company to run side shows at the exhibition was held over, pending a further apportionment of space. It was decided that home industries exhibits shall be admitted free. The committee resolved to recommend the Industrial Association, to offer a prize of £3 3s, open to any competitor, for a competitive design for an exhibition diploma, not to exceed sixteen inches by twelve in measurement. The secretary reported that he is ia communication with the Public Works Department, Tourist Department, Defence Department, and Agricultural Department. It is hoped that each will display exhibits. It was decided thai no "sole rights" should be granted for the sale of any description of goods. One man offered the association file- sum of £35 for the sole right to sell embroidered handker chiefs in the exhibition, but the offer was declined. The aim of the association ia not so much money-making as to promote a representative exhibition by encouraging exhibitors in every possible way.
