♦ ' — far TELSOKAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.) GREYTOWN, 17th February. Tho annual meeting of the South Wairarapa Trotting Club was held on Thursday evening. The report and balancesheet showed the club's finances in a healthy stale. The following officers were elected: — President, Dr. Bey; vice-presidents, Messrs. 3. R. Nicol, 'Frank Kempfcon, H. Humphries, 11. Morison, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., W. A. Grace, M. Lyons, Thos. Grace, H. Adamson, Waio te Whaite: judge, Mr. H. Morison; clerk of scales, Mr. H. Walden ; clerk of course, Mr. Win. York; starter, Messrs. A. Cometti (with ckn-k) and H. Adamson (assistant); handicapper, Mr. J. 11. Pollock; timekeepers, Messrs. J. H. Nicol and J. lloborteon; auditor, Mr. C. W. Henry ; tr-.a-.urer, Mr. C. J. Jbieard; stewards, Messrt. C J. Beard, C. W. Henry, S. Poison, E. J. Eaison, C. G. Williams, J. Cross, W. W. Birknell, A. M'Phee, and J. Robertson ; Protest Committoe, Messrs. H. Adamson, E. J. Eaison, J. E. Nicol, and A. M'Phee. The stewards were instructed lo draw up a programme to the value of £300. At a special meeting held after the genera] meeting it ivas decided to register the club under the Unclassified Societies Piegistration Act. and Messrs. Maxton, Beard, Cross, and Henry and the secretary were appointed lo arrange for registration. Mr Beard was c-lected chairman of stewards.
'What I would like to see," said Dr. Valintine, at a meeting of tho Christchurch Hospital and "Charitable Aid Board, "would bo that throughout the Dominion the homes for old people should be in charge cl trained nurses. Those in charge now aro excellent people, but they are not expert' at dealing with people like trained nurses, who, from their education, arc speedily fitted jtfi do so."
