During the naval debate in the Reichstag Socialists accused the Krupp family of making £2,340.000 clear profit during the last throe years- 1 by squeezing the whole district liko a lemtrti. It was asserted that 40 per cent, of tho workmen's dwellings in Essen were in a disgraceful condition. Admiral yon Tirpitz. Minister in charge of the Navy, replied that hardly any firm had done so much as Krupps' in the dn'cction of improving their workers' housing and social conditions.
