Two proposals were to be j submitted — one for the erection of two new freezing chambers and storehouse, at a cost of about £7000 ; and another for the duplication of the present capacity of the whole machinei*' and plant, at a cost of about £20,000.

Butterflies of rare form and hue will be on view at the Dominion Museum next Tuesday and a few days following. The collection, which is fairly large, includes a good array given by I the late Mr. A. P. Buller* It is not advisable to keep butlerflies on show | permanently, because exposure to the i light makes the colours fade. Therefore, ordinarily, the specimens repose in dark cupboards. This week's Graphic contains a series of photo views in connection with the swimming championship meeting at Te Aro Baths, a number of intorior views of Government House, Wellington ; Auckland's new Town Hall, and two page illustrations of the organ for same, presented by Mr. Henry Brett. A Ma,taura farmer owns four sows of the White Yorkshire type which in a period of eleven months with two litters each produced 113 joung onut, and from their sale hn obtained the handsome return of £84 15s, or an averago of 15a ciicli. One of tho sows which ho has had for four yeara has averaged £1 a month, and has returned her owner something like £60 for her progeny.
