From information received by the New Zealand Shipping Company regaiding the mishap to the steamer Kuahme at Las Palmas, it appears that the Ruahine was lying at anchor in the harbour when the Beacon Grange collided with her. It is anticipated that repairs will be effected in about fne days time, and the vessel will then come on to "Wellington, via Capetown and Hobart. THE TASMAN SEA TEADE. The steamer Ihumata, which was recently launched at Antwerp, is one of seveial vessels which are being built to the order of an Auckland syndicate engaged in the coal trade between Australia and Auckland in conjunction with the well-known Craig line of sailing vessels. The steamer (says the Herald) proved herself such a success ths>t the syndicate decided to establish a line of steamships to be known as the "I" line, and as the new steamers now building are brought into the trade, the sailing ships will giadually disappear. The Ihumata is about the size of | the Inga, and she will be equipped with all ■ the latest appliances for the handling and | carrying of cargo, having four holds, with eight winches, and self-trimming hatches, while her carrying capacity will be about 2000 tons. The vessel has been constructed at the Antwerp Shipbuilding Company's yaids, Hoboken, near Antwerp. Captain J. Benton, formerly master of the l&ga, proceeded to Antwerp from Sydney some time ago to supervise the construction of the vessel, and he will pilot her out to Australia. STAR. OF INDIA.
