Members of the Auckland team, witfi Mr. J. J. Mulvihill as manager, arrived in Wellington last ev&ning, in order that they may become thoroughly ased to the water and the baths. They had their first dip this morning, and found more "sting" in the watex here, as compared with that to which they are accustomed in Auckland. They all expressed themselves as delighted with the baths. "If we were here very long," said the manager, "I guarantee, that j some of our men would very soon breaJc I 60scc for the ' 100.' As it is, we expect Champion's times to be much faster than those just recorded in Auckland — and Uie> were New Zealand records!" AH Auckland's nominees in the championship events are members of the Waitemata Club, and that club has spent a great deal of money to ensure thenattendance here. In all, the party consists of thirteen, and two m' ■ ' are coming before Saturday. Grep things are expected of M. E. He is capable of swimrr .g the mile in 26min 20sec, and half ' ,t distance in between 12min Bsec and mm 16sec. O'Hare has of late put v ome smart times over short distanc us most recent performance for 36 being 18 3-ssec. Stewart and Welso ye both capable of "doing 19 dead" er the same course. As regards t' nreast-stroke, this appears to ba the "iy event they do not expect to win, ' Aufldanders consider their man (Hor i) will bo runner-up to the Christchii i crack Atkinson. Hortou, in the te> covered 215 yds in 3min 16sec 3 which i- qual to 3min 20sec for the full disjce (220 yds). Auckland has not entered polo team.
