[The deceased peer, who was a director of the Great Western Railway Corßpany and a member of several publio bodies at Bristol, was chairman of tho Imperial Tobacco Company, Ltd. [Mr. M'Whirter, who studied ab Peebles at the Edinburgh School of Art, was elected an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy' in 1864, and of the RoyaJ Academy in 1894. Scotch subjects and scenery were his favourite themes.]
