OBITUARY.
DR. BROWN PATON. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright, LONDON, 27th January. Tho death is announced of Dr. John Bpowji Paton, M.A., D.D., Emeritus Principal of the Congregational Institute for Theological and Missionary Studies, Nottingham. [Dr. Paton, who was in his eightyfirst year, after a distinguished career, was appointed in 1354 minister of the Wicker Congregational Church, Sheffield. In 1863 he became First Principal of the Congregational Institute at Nottingham, a position he retained for twenty-five years. He was joint editor of the Electric Review from 1858 to 1861, and associate editor of the Contemporary Review from 1882 to 1888. In addition to publishing a number of religious works. Dr. Patent was a regular contributor to magazine literature, and took a a active part in many philanthropic movements.
