TROUBLES OF A HOSPITAL BOARD.

At a meeting of the Maisden-Kadpara Hospital Board yesterday, a number of masters the subject of keen local eontro-v-er-sy affecting the board's hospital at Te Kopuru were disposed of. The first was in regard to the manner in which the chairman of the local Hospital Committee (Mr. F. J. Dargaville) had temporarily- staffed tbe institution during the interregnaim between the depaa.'tiure of the old staff and the appointment of a new one. The committee had refused to endorse the chairman's action. Mr. Datrgavile defended his action, which was upheld by the board by 7 votes to 4. Several members of the local committee thereupon tendered their resignations, which the board, however, refused to accept. The resignation of the matron (Mies K. Turabull) was received. She stated j that she was unable to work with the | preseint medical superintendent (Dr. H. Young). Numerous complimentary references to Miss Tutrnbull were made, and the board refused to accept her resignation, but decided to transfer her to th© Whangarei Hospital and "transfer Miss Dixon, of Whangairei, to Te Kopuru. As th-a appointment of Dr. Horton Joint, medical superintendeait, expires n-ext^ month, it was resolved to call for applications for a medical anaesthetist. The assistant-secretary (Mt. F. Rood) was given a month's notice of termination of his appointment, but the board refused to call for applications to fill the vacancy, pending the question of whether the separate Ipcal committee for Te Kopuru Hnall continue or whether the board should administer the hospital from Whangarei. Messrs. W. H. Turnbull and Co. advertise particulars of several properties situated in various parts of the city ; also a farm of 362 acres close to Wellington market*,
