FIRE IN VICTORIA-STREET.

¦ ¦' ¦ «c — Last evening, at 9.55 o'clock, the Fire Brigade received a call to Howden's buildings in Victoria-street, where an outbreak of fire occurred in a small oißce on the second floor, occupied by Hugh Douglas, manufacturing stationer. The fire, which originated among some sweepings and paper*, or in that vicinity, was quickly suppressed. A partition ,wall and one of the offices suffered damage from fire and smoke. The other offices in the building — Henry Marriner, John Gruar, M'Donafd and Co., J. W. Bead (billiard saloon), and Murdoch and Co., were slightly damaged by water. .L/ouglas was insured with the Australian Alliance for J36GO. Marriner in the same owes for £600, M'Dnnald and Co. in the Queensland for £6500, Read in the Royal Exchange for £517, and Murdoch and Co. in the- London and Lancashire for £1050.
