THE MASTERTON SHOW.

Although Romney and Lincoln sheep will figure prominently at the show to be held on the Masterton A. and P. Association's new show grounds on 14th and 15th February, it is not alone in these' sheep classes that there will be keen competition. In English Leicesters the Lister Shearing Machine Company's silver cup, which was won last year by Messrs Slack Bros., of Manawatu, will again be competed for. The New Zealand Sheep Breeders' Association offer a shield for the champion ram in Border Leicesters, whilst in Southdowns a cash prize of £10 is offered by Mr. James Stuckey for the best ram under 21 months. In the competition classes for Shropshires, for which gold and silver medals are offered, there are one or two local breeders who challenge the Dominion. Six classes are provided for farmers in longwool crosses, and a silver cup, valued at £20, is offered for the most points scored in the freezing classes. Freezers and fat sheep are sure to be strongly in evidence at the show. lfc may be mentioned that the Masterton A. and P. Association has made a distinctly forward move by the erection of pavilions for the exhibition of sheep. This ia an innovation which will doubtless be appreciated by breeders. Exhibitors should remember that entries cloee with the secretary today. ' ' 1
