AUSTRALIA'S ANNIVERSARY.
SPOILT BY WET WEATHER. By Telegraph.— Fress Association.— Copyrighl, SYDNEY. 26th January. The Anniversary Day holiday was spoiled by incessant heavy rain. The single scuils race 'at the Anniversary Regatta was won by T. Kemp (scratch), with S. Pearce (35sec behind) second, and Fqgwoll (40seo behind) third. The Naval Brigade and Firo Brigade crews wjon the service whalers' races, bub all other sports, including the Randwick 'races and the inter-State cricket match, were postponed. ADDRESS BY SIR GEORGE REID. (Received January 27, 10 a.m.) LONDON. 26th January. Sir George Reid, High Commissioner, addressed the London Chamber of Com. merce on the foundation of Australia. He recounted the pastoral, agricultural, and financial progress <^f the count.ry. and quoted the statements of the Commonwealth and New South Wales Premiere (Messrs. Fisher and M'Gowen), with reference to the peopling of Australia. There was a large assemblage. Lord Desborough presided.
