SIR FRANCIS HOPWOOD.
LEAVING THE COLONIAL OFFICE By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received January 27, 8.15 a.m.) LONDON, 26th January. Sir Francis Hopwood is definitely vacating his position at the Colonial Office, where, since 1907, he haa beeu Undersecretary for the Colonies. [Sir Francis is in his 51st year, and before his Colonial Office appointment had filled many important positions in the Board of Trade and other branches of the public service. "He has been a British delegate at various International Conferences, has been a member of several Royal Commissions, and was on the staff of the Prince of Wales (the present King) during his visit to Canada in 1908. It is unlikely that he has definitely retired from public life.}
