. BRITISH-JAPANESE ALLIANCE. TARIFF NEGOTIATIONS. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. TOKIO, 25th January. Count Komtu-a, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in a speech in the House of Representatives, declared that the AngloJapanese Alliance was constantly gaining in strength. By ensuring perfect accord and genuine goodwill between, the two Powea's, the alliance continued to be a powerful factor in the general peace of the BB T ai' East. The tariff negotiations were proceeding with the various Powers, and the Government was aiming to re-establish the complete tai'ifl; autonomy of Japan and to eliminate unequal engagements. It was hoped that a satisfactory tariff treaty with Great Britain would shortly be concluded.
