FATALITIES.
RECENT DROWNING AT NAPIER. [BY TBLEGBAPH — PEESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, 24th January. An inquest was held to-day on the body of Samuel Munties Clapham,who met his death while bathing on the Marine Parade beach on Monday afternoon. The medical evidence was to the eflect that the primary cause of death was_ heart lailure, owing to shock in finding himself in trouble in the water, as he had not been in the water long enough to drown. A verdict was re° turned that death resulted from, heart feilure. SUDDEN DEATH OF AN OLD MAN. REEFTON, 24th January. An old man named John Dellow Long, connected with the Buller punt, fell ill at Inangahua Junction, and died while being conveyed to Reefton. Deceased was said^to be the first male child born in the Nelsou province.
