THREATENED PROSECUTION.
fßr IELEGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.J PALMERSTON N., This Day. In connection with the v threatened prosecution of local picture-show houses tor failing to register as factories where electricity is produced for purposes of saie, a similar position has arisen in regard to the local metal pit and waterworks, which have also been required to register as factories. The Mayor has secured an opinion from Mr. Martin, solicitor to the Municipal Corporations' Association, to the effect that waterworks and metal pits ar not liable to registration as factories, the work not being such ( as is ordinarily performed in a factory ; also that " an opera house is not liable, as electricity is not produced for sale. The borough council decided to take no action, and to await the threatened prosecution by the department.
