Mr. Kidston, Premier of Queensland, who is visiting Sydney, states that he is emphatically host'le to the referendum proposals of the Federal Government. MR. HOLMAN. DEFINES HIS POSITION. FAVOURS THE ACQUIREMENT OF MONOPOLIES. (Received January 24, 9.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr. W. A. Holman, Attorney-General in the State Ministry, who has returned from New Zealand, has declared his position regarding the Federal referenda. Mr. Holman states that he is in favour of the amendment empowering the Commonwealth to acquire- monopolies, but, in common with some of his colleagues, he will urge the people not to accept the amendment enabling the Commonwealth to gradually absorb the most important State legislative functions.
