A big bush fire is raging in the Orongorongo Valley. The light north-west wind is carrying the smoke well to the eastward, and the coastline is not being obscured. Prince Leopold of Battenberg, who is on a tour of the world, arrived in Wellington by the Main Trunk E.xpress yesterday afternoon. His Royal Highness was received at Thorndon Station by the Prime Minister and Lady Ward, the Hon. Dr. J. G. Findlay, and the Hon. 11. M'Kenzie, who extended him a cordial welcome to New Zealand. Prince Leopold is a son of Princess Henry of Battenberg (sister of his late Majesty King Edward), a brother of Queen Ena of Spain, a grandson of Queen Victoria, and a cousin of King George. Prince Leopold left last evening by the Maori for the south. At Christchurch he will be met by Sir James Mills, who forms one of a party which will tour the Dominion from south to north. On the termination of the tour, which will occupy about three weeks, Prince Leopold Avill leave Auckland for Japan. He will then return to England via Vancouver and Canada. He expects to be Home by the end of May. A Press Association telegram from Chria&church states : — "Prince Leopold of Batietiberg arrived here tins morning.
