During the evening competitions in singing and reading were decided. The prizes were presented by Mr. J. P. Kelly. Elsie Koff and Leslie Kelly tied for the honour of dux of the school, gaining equal marks. The headmaster, Mr. Sanson, was presented with a silver shaving <mug, and Miss' Haslam, assistant, with a silvermounted brush and comb — both, presentations being made on behalf of the scholars. In our report of the breaking-up ceremony at Maranui School the names were omitted of three recipients of proficiency certificates : — Gladys Nicholsou, Elsie Ridge and Deris Robertson.
