The Postal authorities advise that the s.s. Maheno, which left Sydney for Auckland on Wednesday at noon, has an Australian mail, and American and Eng lish mails via Vancouver, also an Eng- • lish mail via Suez. The Wellington por. tion 6hould arrive here on Monday afternoon. Strawberries have arrived in Wellington in large quantities from all Darts of the Dominion during the week, but the hot weather has caused a great proportion to arrive over-ripe. Most of tnem have sold from Bel to Is 3d per lb. Auckland strawberries to-day brought from 8d to Is 3d- A small consignment of last season's apples, grown in Auckland, also arrived to-day, and met with quick sale at 'payable rates. Mr. Arthur St. Clair, of the Bank of New South Wales, who has been transferred to Australia, wi. a passenger by the Ulimaroa yesterday. Mr. St. Clair was prominent in local football, swimming, and musical circles.
