PERSONAL MATTERS.
Mr. H. J. Palmer, accompanied by Mrs. and Master Palmer, who have been visiting the Old Country, are expected to return by the Sydney boat tins day week. ' Mr. Cecil Webb, of the Ocean Acci. dent Insurance Co., left for Sydney last week to enter into a branch of the businesa there. On the eve of his departure the staff presented him with a tolten of their regard. The Rev. T. G. and Mrs. Kay have received presentations from the members of St. Luke's and Ladies' Guild. Mrs. Kay was the recipient of three article^ of silver mounted on greenstone, and Ml 1 ., Kay a silver cigarette box. Mr. Noel Barraud. of tho firm of Ba.traud and Abraham, Palmerston North, who has been in Europe for the past two years, i& a pa«seniw by the Bremen, which arrived at Fremantle yesterday. Mr. Barraud is accompanied by Mrs. nui Miss Barraud. Mr. Thomas Amos, who had been a resident of Wellington for a number of years, died hero yesterday, aged 76. Th« deceased, previous to coming to Wellington, lived at Timaru, where ho va« captain of the local fire brigade. He has left a widow and small family. Mr. Gity N. Morris, of tho staff o6 tho Magistrate's Court at Wellington, has received notification of his transfer to the Christchurch Court. His place :i4 Wellington will be taken by Mr. F. W. Sehramm, at present on the staff at Christchurch. Mr. Morris will leave in; about a fortnight. Miss Nancy Jobson, M.A., senior assistant on the staff of the Presbyterian Ladies' College. East Melbourne, has been appointed by the Southland High, Schools Board of Governors successor to Miss Cruickshailk, Lady Principal of tha Southland Girls' High School, who ha» resigned to take another appointment^ .There were twenty-two A;pplicauts«'
