ILLICIT SALES OF LIQUOR.
The Prime Minister informed Mr. Glover this afternoon that rewards are offered to police officers for services in connection with prosecutions for illicit sales of liquor. The practice, he adds, has been in force for over twenty-ny« years, and a vote for the purpose is taken every year. CATHOLIC CLUB'S CONCERT. The Wellington Catholic Club^s concert will be held in St. Peter's- Schoolroom, Ghuznee-street, this evening. The' proceeds are to be devoted to purchasing material and outfit for the tennis branch. Mr. E. B. L. Eeade will sing the favourite Maori song "Waiata Poi," * Borneo Gardiner will contribute his whistling imitations, Messrs. Twohill and Hotman will sing the duet "Watchman, What of the Night?" and Mr. C. M. Howard will give a ventriloquial sketch. The dramatic branch of the club vrill assist with a comedy entitled "My Turn Next."
