A RUN OF BILLS.

A POLITICAL CHRISTMAS BOX? When three Bills (Old-age Pensions, Loa/na, and Libel), by Governor's Message, feM on the floor of the House last night, Mr. Massey suggested am adjournment till after tho Christmas holidays. If Parliament was goiaig on with all these Bills, there would be enough to last another six months. Members should lia-ve-a sufficient opportunity to study the Bills that were already on the order paper before others were introduced. The Prime Minister replied that he was sure the Leader of the Opposition was in a facetious mood. Mr. Massey : How many more. Bills ? Sir Joseph Ward : Not many more; I think it is only right to say that. (Laughter.) The Loan Bill contains only two clauses. Mr. Massey : The Libel Bill is a big thing. Sir Joseph Ward : "It is quite .necessary to have a Libel Bill." He added that the Old-age Pensions Bill merely gave effect to what he had a«ked the House to legislate upor this session, and members generally were in agreement about the amendments. The House would see that the Libel Bill was a sensible one. Mr. Masssy : We have had it before. Sir Joseph Ward': "Not this one." He repeated his declaration of last week that thei" were only three Bills on theorder paper on which there could be any serious difference of^opinion. He would suggest to Mr. Massey that he should not try to cross bridges before he got to the rivers. The House should go on with its work, and if the tasks were 'not finished m reasonable time, by all means let the House adjourn till after Christmas, and then come back and have a good time.
