MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. W. G. Ri.ldell, S.M., presided at to-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. T?or insobriety, Richard Evans, with nine previous convictions, was sentenced to twenty-one days' imprisonment, a prohibition order -to be issued against him. Two first offenders were each fined ss. One other, who made no appe,arance, forfeited his bail (10s). Louis Francis Hardy, charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, was remanded till 12th October. Two men, James Crimmms and Charles Cunningham, who were yesterday convicted of having wilfully damaged a door in a house at North-street, were* charged with breaking and entering the dwelling house of Matty Spencer, at Wellington, on the 3rd in^t., and stealing a rolled gold watch, a gold chain, a silver match-box, a. shark's tooth, and 9s 6d in silver, of the total value of £17 4s 6d, the property of Thomas Davidson. The men were remanded till 13th October.
