AUCKLAND SEASON.
[by telegraph— press association.] AUCKLAND, 4th October. The Auckland Cricket Association has decided to open the season on 15th October. In reference to the invitation of the Canterbury Cricket Association, for an Auckland team to visit Canterbury at Christmas time, it was decided that .the date was not suitable, but that a team would be sent later in tho season.
Britain's preparations for the taking of the census on 2nd April include the employment of 35 cleiks on preliminary arrangements, building up the framework upon which 40,000 enumerators will co 11 duct their operations. This army of men will be employed for one week only.
